With over 20,000 different species, orchids are the most abundant of all the plant families in the world.
Some species grow on trees (epiphytes) and others are called “air” plants. Some orchids are
thimble-sized blooms while others, such as the renanthera storiei, grow 20 feet high. Many orchids release fragrances to attract insects for pollination. Odorless varieties rely on color or distinctive shape as a lure. Although they look fragile, orchids are extremely resilient. Like all plants, however, you do have to take proper care of them.

You don’t have to be an expert to raise orchids, as they’re relatively easy to grow. With their delicate
beauty, they only look like they’re difficult to grow! They need food, water, sunlight, soil, and air in the right proportions. They can be grown outdoors or indoors under grow lights. With proper hydroponic care, an orchid plant may live for months.

Orchids comprise a wide range of diversity and have adapted to growing in many different kinds of soil.  They may look too ethereal to last longer than a few weeks, and while some species really are more fragile than others, robust species exist that can blossom for three or four months.
